Cathay welcomes DB Schenker as member of sustainable fuel programme

DB Schenker has committed to buy 878 tonnes of sustainable fuel.

Cathay Cargo welcomed DB Schenker as a member of its Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Programme during a signing ceremony last 8 October at the airline’s headquarters.

The programme enables members to purchase SAF on Cathay flights from Hong Kong and other ports on the network. The fuel can reduce more than 80% of greenhouse gas emissions as compared to conventional jet fuel.

DB Schenker, which has committed to buy 878 tonnes of SAF, will reduce more than 2,600 tonnes in carbon emissions.

The signing was attended by Cathay Director Cargo Tom Owen and DB Schenker Vice President for Global Carrier Relation Susanne Stemmer.
