Cathay Cargo adds real-time customs statuses to EzyCargo platform
Real-time data feed cuts manual updates and improves cargo visibility
Cathay Cargo has begun publishing real-time customs-clearance statuses to customers via its EzyCargo platform and ONE Record APIs, the airline said in a company release. It is the first carrier to integrate customs authorities directly into live shipment messages using the IATA ONE Record protocol.
The feature delivers clearance notifications from authorities including Europe’s ICS2, the United States, Canada and the United Arab Emirates.
Statuses are presented as ONE Record “Logistic Events” indicating whether a shipment is pending, under assessment, cleared for loading, held for inspection or released for collection.
The capability was developed with Global Logistics System (HK) Company Limited (GLS), which supports Cathay’s EzyCargo suite and Click & Ship booking platform. “Integrating customs into ONE Record lets customers see clearance decisions as they are issued,” James Evans, Cathay general manager, Cargo Commercial, said.
Cathay said it will roll the feature into its online customer portal for registered users in 2026 and expects the direct feed to reduce message-relay delays from ground handlers.
