HK launches 'E-commerce Easy' to boost Mainland market access

It has a cumulative funding ceiling of $1m.

The government has launched a new program, "E-commerce Easy”, under the Dedicated Fund on Branding, Upgrading & Domestic Sales (BUD Fund), to assist businesses in expanding their presence in the Mainland market through e-commerce.

The Trade and Industry Department said that "E-commerce Easy" has a cumulative funding ceiling of $1m, with no individual project caps.

Funds can be used for setting up online stores, advertising on third-party platforms, developing mobile apps, and adding online payment options to websites.

Funding will be provided on a matching basis, with businesses eligible for an initial payment of up to 75% of the approved amount. Projects must be completed within 24 months.

Commerce and Economic Development Secretary Algernon Yau encouraged businesses to use the program to explore the Mainland market's potential.

Additionally, the government will host the Hong Kong Shopping Festivals on Mainland e-commerce platforms in August to help local SMEs promote their brands.

Businesses can continue to apply for the BUD Fund, with the funding cap per enterprise remaining at $7m.
