Facebook and WhatsApp top Hong Kong's social commerce platforms

Two thirds of e-commerce players use these online channels.

Hong Kong’s top social commerce platforms are Facebook and WhatsApp, according to Asia social commerce report by PayPal.

Both online platforms registered 67% usage from e-commerce merchants.

Meanwhile, Facebook’s messaging app, Facebook Messenger posted 53% usage among online retailers, followed by Instagram at 50%.

The survey also noted that an increasing number of merchants are turning to social media as 7 in 10 (75%) of merchants in Hong Kong sell their products and services on online platforms - a figure not far from the Asia average of 80%.
