190,000 public houses to be completed over next 5 years

About 17,000 private housing units will be built per year over the same period.

The government expects total public housing supply in the next 5 years to reach 190,000, Financial Secretary Paul Chan said in his 2025-26 Budget Speech on 26 February.

This is reportedly 80% higher than the first 5-year period since the current government term took office.

Chan assured that the government has “identified sufficient land” to meet their target of 308,000 public housing units for the next 10 years.

For private housing supply, the government estimates that 17,000 units will be completed annually over the next 5 years. This is 8% lower than the annual average in the past 5 years.

The potential supply of first‑hand private residential units for the next three to four years will be around 107,000 units.\
