Housing land supply nears annual target with 12,430 units

Private housing land can support 10,190 units this quarter.

Hong Kong's private housing land supply is expected to support about 12,430 units in the first half of the 2026–2027 financial year, bringing it close to the annual target of 12,600 units.

The government said total private housing land supply in the second quarter (Q2) is expected to support about 10,190 units from government land sales, railway property development, urban renewal projects, and private development.

During the July-to-September quarter, Secretary for Development Bernadette Linn said the government will tender one residential site at Fat Kwong Street in Ho Man Tin.

The site, which was rezoned from "Government, Institution or Community" use to residential use, is expected to provide about 250 flats, with the future developer required to allocate part of the floor area to social welfare facilities.

The site is located in a mature neighbourhood with access to surrounding facilities and an MTR station, Linn said.

She said the annual supply target was likely to be achieved shortly due to the need for the government to spearhead development in the Northern Metropolis and railway property development projects in line with its overall land and infrastructure development strategy.

Three residential sites in the Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen New Development Area, whose tenders closed on 3 July, are expected to provide about 3,120 flats.

The MTR Corporation's Tuen Mun A16 Station (Package 2) development is expected to supply about 5,510 flats, whilst the Urban Renewal Authority's Bailey Street/Chi Kiang Street project in Hung Hom, launched on 3 July, is expected to provide about 1,220 flats.

Three private development and redevelopment projects are also expected to complete lease modification procedures in Q2, providing about 90 flats.
