CE Leung says sorry for mishandling property issues

There were "unauthorised building works".

According to a government release, Chief Executive CY Leung apologised for the carelessness in handling the purchase of his properties 13 years ago, and not realising sooner the existence of unauthorised building works in his houses.

Speaking to reporters today, he said he did apply in the years 1999 and 2000 for alterations and additions to the two houses.

"There were about six additions and alterations and one or two were actually quite minor. It was at the time of my purchase of the two houses," he said.

He also said the applications underlined his commitment to following the Buildings Ordinance and Hong Kong building regulations.

"There is no question of me not following the rules or contravening the building regulations," Mr Leung said.
