Hong Kong unveils intellectual property online trading platform

Another initiative to propel Hong Kong as an IP trading hub.

In a strategic partnership signing ceremony held today at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong formally launches the Asia IP Exchange (AsiaIPEX), a free online trading platform and database showcasing intellectual properties around the globe. It aims to facilitate international IP trade and connection to global IP players.

AsiaIPEX has formed alliances with 20 partners and over 20,000 tradable IP listings are available at the portal. The portal will be accessible starting tomorrow, 5 December.

Partners from Canada, Malaysia, United Kingdom, and China among others flocked to grace the event.

Raymond Yip, Assistant Executive Director, HK Trade Development Council, said in his opening speech, "I am confident that the business intellectual property has a bright future in Hong Kong, in the Chinese Mainland, in the Asian region and even all over the world."
