Gov’t expands GBA data contract to cover all industry sectors

It was initially applied only to banking, credit, and healthcare sectors.

The Hong Kong government expanded the Standard Contract for the Cross-boundary Flow of Personal Information to include all sectors.

Initially applied to sectors like banking, credit referencing, and healthcare, it has recently been extended to all sectors to streamline cross-boundary data transfers within the GBA.

The measure is voluntary and will not alter the supervisory role of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data in enforcing the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.
