WeChat Pay HK extends services to small merchants in Mainland

The system automatically converts Renminbi payments to Hong Kong dollars.

WeChat Pay HK has expanded its cross-border payment coverage to include small merchants on the Mainland such as local food stalls and Shenzhen taxis.

The system automatically converts Renminbi (RMB) payments to Hong Kong dollars with no handling fees and does not require a system application.

Users only need to scan the vendor’s payment code using WeChat and manually enter the RMB amount.

Hong Kong users must complete identity verification through their HKID beforehand to avail of the service.
