Sun Life shifts healthcare support before treatment

The scheme spans consultation, treatment and recovery across 3 Hong Kong healthcare groups.

Sun Life Hong Kong Limited has announced the launch of a new premium healthcare ecosystem aimed at providing patients with structured administrative and medical support before treatment begins. 

The initiative is launched in collaboration with CUHK Medical Centre, Gleneagles Hong Kong, and HKSH Medical Group.

Services will be managed through the eSun Pro medical concierge service, operated by HealthMutual Group.

The platform will offer policyholders pre-treatment planning, healthcare resource matching, specialist referrals, second medical opinions, and appointment coordination. It will cover three key stages of patient care: consultation, treatment, and recovery.

The three participating institutions are major private healthcare providers in Hong Kong. CUHK Medical Centre is a non-profit private teaching hospital owned by The Chinese University of Hong Kong. 

Gleneagles Hong Kong operates as a multi-specialty private teaching hospital affiliated with The University of Hong Kong Health System and is part of the IHH Healthcare network. 

HKSH Medical Group includes Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital, HKSH Healthcare, HKSH Eastern Medical Centre, HKSH Cancer Centre, and the HKSH Institute for Innovation & Professional Development.

Sun Life Hong Kong Deputy CEO of Life and Health, Dr Christine Yeung, stated that the partnership aims to shift the focus of healthcare management from processing claims after medical procedures to providing informed planning before care begins.

Representatives from the partner hospitals added that the scheme aligns with ongoing efforts to offer transparent pricing, clearer treatment pathways, and regular reviews of medical fees.
