ITC opens tech funding scheme

Applications will be open until 13 October 2025.

The Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) has opened the applications for jointly funded projects under the Mainland-Hong Kong Technology Cooperation Funding Scheme from 25 August to 13 October 2025.

ITC is encouraging research and development (R&D) collaboration among universities, research institutes, and technology enterprises in mainland China and Hong Kong through this funding scheme.

The first of the two themes under the scheme was ageing biotechnology. This topic covers innovative medicine for improving elderly health, smart health technologies, and rehabilitation medical devices for seniors.

The second theme involves low-altitude flight system technology, which encompasses low-altitude infrastructure construction and low-altitude aircraft technology.

The ITC said that the topics were selected to focus on providing a technical foundation for developing the silver economy and low-altitude economy.

Aside from fitting the specific topics, all applications must be submitted simultaneously by the Hong Kong and mainland institutions to the ITC and the Ministry of Science & Technology, respectively. The R&D work must also be conducted in both places and involve cooperation between the two places.
