Hong Kong rises to seventh in Global Cities Index 2025

The city’s climb was primarily driven by an increase in international travelers.

Hong Kong rose to seventh ranking in Kearney’s 2025 Global Cities Index (GCI), up from ninth in 2024.

The city’s climb was primarily driven by an increase in international travelers and a strong performance in visual and performing arts, which boosted its score in the cultural experience category.

Hong Kong’s position places it among five Asia-Pacific cities in the global top 10, alongside Tokyo (#4), Singapore (#5), Beijing (#6), and Shanghai (#8).

The Global Cities Index evaluates cities across five key dimensions: business activity, human capital, information exchange, cultural experience, and political engagement.
