Germany’s Merck to establish Hong Kong centre under HKSTP partnership
The collaboration supports startup commercialisation and potential venture investments.
Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) and Germany’s Merck have signed a partnership agreement to establish a new centre at Hong Kong Science Park.
The Merck Hong Kong Centre will provide startups and researchers with access to advanced scientific products, live technology demonstrations, and expert consultation services across life sciences, healthcare, and electronics.
Merck will also provide technical training, clinical advisory sessions, and professional consultations.
The partnership includes an innovation scouting programme to identify and evaluate promising startups and connect them with the company’s global innovation network.
The programme will explore opportunities for commercial partnerships, proof-of-concept pilot projects, and potential strategic venture investments.
Both organisations will also jointly host an annual Merck Innovation Day at Hong Kong Science Park for startups, academic institutions, and industry representatives.
The partnership is also expected to support local startups seeking to expand into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and international markets.
The agreement was signed by HKSTP CEO Terry Wong and Merck China President Rogier Janssens.
