89% of people watch free TV, survey finds

People spend an average of 2.6 hours per day watching free TV programmes.

More than 89% of the Hongkongers watched free TV programmes, the Communications Authority said, citing the Broadcasting Service Survey

The same survey, conducted in 2024, revealed that 38.8% had listened to radio programmes in the month before the survey.

Respondents spent an average of 2.6 hours per day watching free TV programmes and 2.2 hours per day listening to radio programmes.

The survey also found that respondents were generally satisfied with the programme variety of licenced broadcasting services.
