We cannot prevent attacks: HKEx

CEO Charles Li said they can try to defend the websites when attacks come but they don’t know who the attackers are and how to prevent them from striking.

Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Ltd however will be finding other means of publicizing earnings and other corporate events, according to a report on Bloomberg.

“The bourse, acting to safeguard communications from listed companies, will use e-mails and newspaper advertisements to back up its central online system,” said the report.

Meanwhile Li was quoted as saying, “We don’t even know who they are now, so we don’t know how to prevent them from attacking us. We can try to defend it when it does come, but we cannot prevent it from happening.”
