Sotheby’s Hong Kong to hold sale October 5

Focus will be Chinese art.

Sotheby's Hong Kong’s “40th Anniversary Evening Sale” will be held October 5 during the Hong Kong Autumn 2013 Sale Series October 4 to 8.

This sale will combine the best offerings from 20th Century Chinese Art, Contemporary Asian Art and Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art categories.

Sotheby’s estimates the sale will take in some US$85 million. It said this amount is the highest total estimate of any comparable sale in Asia.

This celebratory Evening Sale will offer over 60 works of exceptional quality by such eminent artists as Wang Yidong, Chu Teh-chun, Zeng Fanzhi, Liu Ye, Walter Spies and Ronald Ventura, among others. Many of the works will appear for the first time at auction or after a long absence from the market.
