Hong Kong M&A activity reaches US$13b YTD

This is a 19% decline compared to the same period last year, where deal values totaled close to US$16 billion.

According to Thomson Reuters, of the total M&A deal flow for Hong Kong involved transactions, 51% are domestic deals while Outbound M&A and Inbound M&A account for 39% and 10%, respectively.

The broader Asia Pacific ex Japan region, is experiencing the slowest quarter since 2009, where the value of announced M&A deals involving Asia Pacific companies totaled US$92.4 billion so far this year, dropping 38.4% after a strong start in 2011 (US$150.0 billion). Hong Kong activity accounts for 14% of the region.

Fees for Hong Kong M&A Financial Advisors climbed 64% to US$182 million from the same time last year.
