Manufacturing production index rises 2.3% YoY in Q2
Electronics and machinery offset declines in food and apparel production.
The index of industrial production for manufacturing industries rose by 2.3% year on year (YoY) in the second quarter (Q2), following a 3.11% growth in Q1, according to provisional data from the Census and Statistics Department.
Increases in output volume were recorded in the metal, computer, electronic and optical products, machinery, and equipment industry (3.8%), and the paper products, printing, and reproduction of recorded media industry (+2.8%).
Meanwhile, the food, beverages, and tobacco industry and wearing apparel industry both saw decreases of 4% and 1.5%, respectively.
The corresponding producer price index went up by 13.1% in Q2, following a YoY 17.7% rise in the previous quarter.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, the index of industrial production for manufacturing industries edged up by 0.2% compared to Q1.
