
Manufacturing industrial production down 0.1% in Q3
The producer price index for manufacturing industries increased by 3.2%.
The index of industrial production for manufacturing industries declined by 0.1% in Q3 2024 compared to the same period last year, following a 0.7% increase in Q2 2024, according to the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD).
Meanwhile, the producer price index for manufacturing industries increased by 3.2%, up from a 3.1% increase in the previous quarter.
In the manufacturing sector, output declined in the paper products, printing, and media reproduction industry by 4.6%, and in the food, beverages, and tobacco industry by 2.7%.
However, production increased in the textiles and wearing apparel industry by 5.8%, and in the metal, computer, electronic, and optical products, machinery, and equipment industry by 3.5%.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, the overall manufacturing production index remained unchanged from Q2 2024.
In the sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities sector, industrial production rose by 0.7% compared to a year earlier, down from a 1.5% increase in Q2. The corresponding producer price index increased by 1.3%, up from 1.0% in the previous quarter.
Producer prices for several industries showed increases: the metal, computer, electronic, and optical products, machinery, and equipment industry saw a 6.1% rise, paper products, printing, and media reproduction increased by 1.9%, and food, beverages, and tobacco rose by 1.8%. However, prices in the textiles and wearing apparel industry decreased by 0.3%.
