Prudential adds pet protection to travel insurance suite
The enhanced plan offers up to $1,300 (HK$10,000) for overseas pet medical costs.
Prudential General Insurance Hong Kong has upgraded its PRUChoice Travel Insurance to include new protections such as coverage for trip disruption due to kidnapping and medical expenses for pets travelling with policyholders.
The enhanced plan offers up to $1,300 (HK$10,000) for overseas pet medical costs and up to $6,500 (HK$50,000) for trip curtailment if a pet becomes seriously ill or injured.
It also provides coverage of up to $6,500 (HK$50,000) for travel interruption due to kidnapping, including trauma counselling.
Other updates include equal personal accident coverage across all age groups and protection for trip cancellations due to severe weather.
The maximum enrolment and renewal age for annual plans has been raised from 75 to 80.
The update follows a 14% rise in Prudential’s general insurance premiums in 2024 and a 428% surge in new pet insurance premiums in Q1.
The company plans to launch more pet-focused products later this year.
