Insurance information platform deploys AI to decode complex policy terms
The Hong Kong platform aims to make exclusions and claims conditions easier to understand.
Hong Kong insurance information platform HK Insurance Hub has launched an artificial intelligence (AI) content optimisation strategy to help the public better understand insurance products, policy terms and coverage.
The initiative uses big data and generative AI to analyse and reorganise insurance information into clearer, easier-to-understand explanations, the platform said.
The system covers a range of products, including the Voluntary Health Insurance Scheme (VHIS), life insurance, critical illness insurance and general insurance.
It aims to highlight policy exclusions, claims conditions and coverage limits that consumers may otherwise overlook.
HK Insurance Hub said the initiative seeks to address gaps in public understanding of insurance, particularly when consumers face lengthy policy documents and complex terms.
“Many citizens miss out on the protection they deserve simply because they cannot understand insurance terms,” a spokesperson for the platform said.
The spokesperson added that AI could help turn technical insurance information into practical guides and improve public awareness of risk management.
The launch reflects the growing use of technology by insurance information platforms to make policy information more accessible.
HK Insurance Hub said it would continue using technology to promote insurance education and help Hong Kong residents make more informed decisions about their coverage.
