Hong Kong insurance complaints drop 10.6% in 2023

H1 2024 also recorded an 11.9% reduction in complaints.

The number of complaints in Hong Kong’s insurance landscape fell 10.6% on a year-on-year (YoY) basis to 976 in 2023. Yet, conduct (28% of the total) and business or operations (19%) remain the top main areas of complaints.

Other complaints which make up 2023’s total are a representation of information (18%), services (17%), claims (16%), and insurance intermediary against the insurer (2%), the Hong Kong Insurance Authority’s Conduct In Focus report revealed.

For the first six months of the year (H1 2024), 445 complaints were received, 11.9% lower YoY. Thus, conduct (29%), claims (22%), and representation of information (19%) were the top concerns filed.
