AXA to re-domicile Bermuda-based insurance unit to Hong Kong
The move will not affect ACRIB’s legal entity, organisational structure, or operations.
AXA Hong Kong and Macau has announced plans to re-domicile AXA China Region Insurance Company (Bermuda) Limited (ACRIB) from Bermuda to Hong Kong under the city’s new company re-domiciliation regime, pending regulatory approval.
The move will not affect ACRIB’s legal entity, organisational structure, or day-to-day operations.
All existing rights and obligations of policyholders, distributors, and business partners will remain unchanged, with agreements and commitments continuing in full effect.
Following the completion of the process, ACRIB is expected to be renamed AXA China Region Insurance Company (Hong Kong) Limited.
AXA will be one of the first insurers to re-domicile under the new regime.
The company said the decision aligns its registration with its long-standing base in Hong Kong and aims to improve operational alignment whilst maintaining service continuity.
“This move is not merely administrative; it is a significant step forward in deepening our roots in Hong Kong and simplifying our reporting and compliance processes,” Sally Wan, Chief Executive Officer of AXA Greater China.
“I firmly believe it will provide strategic advantages that position us for long-term success in one of the world’s most vibrant markets,” she added.
