AlipayHK partners with YAS for real-time travel coverage

The embedded accident insurance is underwritten by Generali Hong Kong.

Hong Kong-based insurtech company YAS has partnered with AlipayHK to offer real-time accident protection for travellers spending on the Chinese mainland.

The insurance automatically adjusts coverage based on each user’s spending, converting every purchase into insurance that scales up to 20 times the amount spent, with a maximum coverage of HK$100,000 per trip.

This new offering is aimed at Hong Kong residents who frequently travel to the Greater Bay Area for leisure and shopping.

According to AlipayHK, over 10 million Hong Kong residents used cross-border transportation services in the past year, highlighting the increasing flow of travellers between Hong Kong and mainland China.

YAS expects this insurance plan to cover over HK$10 billion in annual spending, embedding free accident protection into each transaction made with AlipayHK.

The embedded accident insurance, underwritten by Generali Hong Kong and arranged by YAS, requires no additional registration or procedures from users.
