AIA Hong Kong & Macau launches new plan with 115 conditions for families

AIA also launched a lower-cost option covering 58 critical illnesses.

AIA Hong Kong & Macau has rolled out its new “On Your Side” Critical Illness Protection Series, introducing upgraded plans aimed at families, expectant parents and customers seeking more affordable coverage.

The On Your Side Insurance Plan 2 and the First Gift edition provide protection for 115 conditions, including critical illnesses, early-stage illnesses and severe child diseases.

The plans allow up to 10 additional claims for major conditions such as cancer, heart attack and stroke, with total benefits reaching as much as 1,100% of the initial sum assured.

The First Gift edition also includes first-in-market benefits such as a premium waiver for Down Syndrome and a cord blood stem cell transfusion benefit.

The plans offer more premium flexibility through a top-up premium option, which lets customers pay an additional amount at the start to lower long-term premiums.

Premium waivers are also available if a parent or spouse dies before age 75, subject to policy conditions.

AIA is extending value-added services to its critical illness products for the first time. These include the Care Concierge service in Mainland China, which provides support such as online family doctor access and medical coordination, and the One-Stop Oncology Service in Hong Kong to help insured customers manage treatment planning with specialist teams.

AIA also launched the Essence – On Your Side Insurance Plan, a lower-cost option covering 58 critical illnesses. It includes an extra one-time claim for cancer, heart attack or stroke, along with up to 40% additional payout if these illnesses occur during a specified period.

The insurer said the new protection series responds to concerns highlighted in its survey, which found that over half of parents and parents-to-be worry about childhood cancer, whilst more than 40% are concerned about conditions such as Down Syndrome and ADHD.
