
Welfare cases slip 0.3% in November

According to the Social Welfare Department, the overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance caseload in December stood at 269,239, with 418,768 recipients, down 0.3% on November.
Low earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.6% to 10,339, and unemployment cases fell 1% to 23,980 cases.
Single parent and old age cases also dropped, by 0.8% and 0.1% to 30,903 and 153,302 cases.
Permanent disability cases remained at 18,384 cases. Ill-health cases registered a slight increase of 0.2% to 25,319 cases.
