Over 210,000 employees to benefit from minimum wage hike

It will be implemented in May.

Citing data from the Census and Statistics Department, Nomura said that the median monthly wage in May -June 2012 was HKD13,400, 4.3% higher than one year ago. 

On an hourly basis, the median wage in May - June 2012 was HKD54.8 per hour, 4.6% higher than the HKD52.4 in May - June 2011.

Nomura further adds that with Hong Kong’s minimum hourly wage to be raised to HKD30/hour in May 2013, 210,300 people, whose current hourly wages are less than HKD30, would receive a pay rise.
