HKSTP, 15 local universities launch Global University Innovation Network
GUIN seeks to attract global innovation teams and talents.
The Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) and 15 local universities, with support from global tertiary institutions and organisations, launched the Global University Innovation Network (GUIN) on Monday.
GUIN has two functions: the first is attracting global innovation teams to research and develop with Hong Kong universities’ support, such as the "Global Hub for Future Dentistry" project conducted at the University of Hong Kong.
The second is to gather talents from campuses around the world through HKSTP's global internship program and research framework. Five start-ups in the science park welcomed 32 students from the University of Newcastle this summer.
“The Government is committed to developing Hong Kong into an international I&T centre. Over the past two years, we have attracted over 200 I&T enterprises with high potential and representativeness to set up or expand their businesses here,” said Professor Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry.
