Gov’t-led job fair opens up to 2,400 opportunities

The recruitment event will be held on 1 and 2 June.

Some 2,400 job vacancies will be offered to Hong Kong job seekers in the Creating New Opportunities Job Fair, organized by the Labour Department.

Around 79% of the vacancies are fill time jobs with a monthly salary offer, ranging from $11,000-19,000. The vacancies offered are in retail, manufacturing, and property management amongst other industrites.

The recruitment event will be held at the MacPherson Stadium in Mong Kok between 1 and 2 June. An online recruitment will also be conducted simultaneously.

Moreover, it was noted that 98% of the vacancies required a Secondary Six eduation level or below; whilst 73% of the vacancies are open to hiring applicants without relevant work experience.

Hong Kong’s unemployment rate rose to a record high of 7.2% in February. It dropped to 6.8% in March as the impact of the fourth wave of COVID-19 outbreak in the city receded.

In April, the jobless rate declined further to 6.4%, leaving around 247,500 unemployed persons between February to April. This is a 12,300 drop from 259,800 in January to March.
