Data visualisation, multilingual skills top demand for finance roles
Tools like Power BI and Tableau are becoming essential, whilst multilingual proficiency in Cantonese, English, and Mandarin is also highly valued
Proficiency in data visualisation tools and multilingual proficiency are amongst the most sought-after technical skills for accounting and finance professionals this year, Randstad said.
In its 2025 outlook, Randstad cited tools like Power BI and Tableau are becoming essential, whilst multilingual proficiency in Cantonese, English, and Mandarin is also highly valued for roles involving cross-border operations and stakeholder management.
Meanwhile, the demand for accounting and finance professionals in Hong Kong is rising, driven by the international expansion of Chinese companies.
Many professionals are cautious about job changes, prioritising job security, with 23% resigning previously due to concerns about their company’s financial stability.
Randstad said employers must provide competitive salaries, flexible work arrangements, and efficient recruitment processes to attract talent.
There is also a strong demand for junior to mid-level accountants, financial analysts, and finance managers. Employers prefer specialised candidates who can immediately contribute to business needs and financial strategies.
Salary expectations remain robust, with finance managers earning $46,000 to $60,000 monthly. Senior finance managers can expect up to $65,000, whilst Heads of FP&A may earn as much as $95,000.
High-level positions like Heads of Internal Audit offer salaries between $85,000 to $130,000, whilst Heads of Tax can earn $81,000 to $145,000.
The demand for data-savvy finance professionals who can analyse financial trends and provide strategic insights is also set to grow, with IPO activities in Hong Kong and the US further stimulating recruitment in corporate finance and risk management.
