Bank of East Asia warns against bogus LinkedIn accounts of senior executives
This has been reported to the police.
According to a statement, the Bank of East Asia, Limited alerted all recipients of an email sent in connection with a LinkedIn account under the name of “Dr. (The Hon) David LI Kwok-po” concerning a “business deal requiring utmost discretion”.
Neither Dr. David K.P. Li, Chairman & Chief Executive of BEA nor the Bank has any affiliation whatsoever with this LinkedIn account. Recipients of this invitation are strongly urged to delete this message and not to reply to the email address [email protected], which is provided in the message.
In addition to the above case, fraudulent LinkedIn accounts have been discovered for Dr. Li and other senior executives of the Bank, including Mr. Joseph Pang, Senior Advisor; Mr. Chan Kay-cheung, Senior Advisor and Mr. Adrian Li, Executive Director & Deputy Chief Executive. People are advised to disregard any LinkedIn messages received from the above mentioned senior executives who do not currently hold LinkedIn accounts.
The Bank has reflected its concern to LinkedIn and reported this case to the Hong Kong Police. BEA will take any action deemed necessary and appropriate to protect its reputation and the interests of its customers and the general public.
