288,000 senior citizens received Old Age Living Allowance

89,000 are applying for the second phase.

According to the Social Welfare Department, about 288,000 eligible seniors have received the Old Age Living Allowance so far.

It has up to now received 89,000 applications under the second phase of the allowance scheme, and 12,000 of these applicants have already received the subsidy.

The department said it is processing the remaining applications expeditiously, so those eligible can receive the allowance soon.

People who have met the eligibility criteria and submitted their applications under phase two (postal submission) or phase three (new application) by year’s end will be entitled to the allowance.

Including the beneficiaries of phase one, 288,000 people have now received the allowance.
