Tourist arrivals up 6.6% to 5.28 million in October

Visitors from South Korea and Japan posted the largest growth.

Tourist arrivals increased 6.6% YoY to 5.28 million visitors in October, according to data from Hong Kong Tourism Board.

Tourists from Mainland China posted 8.3% growth to 4.03 million visitors.

Visitors from short haul markets registered a 6.9% YoY increase to 746,967 visitors with South Korea and Japan posting the largest growth at 137,957 and 93,902 respectively.

Inbound tourist activity was also registered from long haul markets USA and United Kingdom after recording 109,357 and 53,089 visitors respectively.

India led the pack for the new markets segment after it registered 34,208 tourists in October.

Overall, tourist arrivals for the first ten months grew 2.7% YoY to 47.91 million tourists.
