Space Travelling came true

Tour space for a whopping HK$1.68 million.

In a release, Space Expedition Corporation (SXC) announced its expansion into Asia by establishing Asia division of the company—SXC Asia on July 8, 2013, marking another milestone in the space tourism industry.

The event attracted many prestigious guests and elites in town to attend, including Anson Chan, Anita Tang Sue Lynn Hwa, Hugo Leung, Louis Pong, Michelle Cheng, Celia Wong, Vanessa Yeung, Pauline Yam, Mary Tong, Jonathan Young, Xuan Mu and Patrick Dunn to discover the life changing experience of outer space traveling.

Michiel Mol, CEO of SXC said at the Asia Launch Event, “Investment in commercial space products and travel services is growing rapidly and SXC plays a big role in driving the development of the space tourism industry. As a leader in this space and to stay ahead of the game, it made perfect sense for us to expand geographically to reach prospects in markets like China and Hong Kong, where we see increased curiosity and interest.”

Alex Tang, the appointed CEO of SXC Asia, will head up the Asia operation and work closely with Michiel and his team to expand SXC’s footprint in the region. “We are extremely excited to have Alex on board to support our Asia expansion plans” said Michiel.

“With the extended team in Asia, we are a step closer to realizing our vision – to make space travel accessible for everyone and offer participants a life-changing experience in viewing planet Earth.”

“I’ve always been intrigued by technology, space travel, what’s going to happen in the future, but to lead a commercial space agency is a truly unique opportunity,” said Alex.

“When I was introduced to Michiel, I made up my mind immediately. To be a part of history and at the same time being able to realize my astronaut dream makes this the best job in the world!”

SXC Asia is selling flights under the SXC General Sales Agent relationship with the prominent aerospace company XCOR Aerospace. XCOR is expected to fly the first commercial participant into sub-space (60km above sea level) by mid 2014 aboard the XCOR Lynx prototype vehicle called Lynx Mark I.

The Lynx Mark II Production model will take participants into space (100 km above sea level) approximately 12 months after the Lynx Mark I commences commercial service. In the Lynx, the participant will sit in the ‘co-pilot’ seat alongside the pilot-astronaut. Together with its 4-square meter wide cockpit canopy, the participant will truly be part of the mission and enjoy an optimal view of the Earth and space.

At the event, Michiel and Alex also unveiled a 1:1.5 model of the XCOR Lynx Mark II to give guests and attendees a taste of what traveling into space would be like.

To provide an opportunity for the public to learn about the spacecraft as well as space travel, the model will be on display at the entrance of The Arcade, Cyberport from July 13 until late August.

To celebrate SXC’s Asia launch, the company announced a special “SXC ASIA Founder Astronaut Package”. Founders are the first 100 participants to travel on the XCOR Lynx Mark II beyond the internationally recognized boundary to space (100km above sea level). The cost of the “Founder Astronaut Package” is HK$1,680,000 and is exclusive to SXC customers in Asia.
