Long-haul arrivals from Russia up 30% in April

Russians helped fuel an increase in visitor arrivals in Hong Kong to 3.84 million.

Long-haul arrivals from Russia jumped 30.1% in April year-on-year with Russian visitors increasing at the fastest pace.

Russians helped fuel an increase in visitor arrivals to 3.84 million in April, up 14.4% year on year. The Tourism Board said more than 2.6 million arrivals came from the Mainland, up 23.9%.

Of the Mainland visitors, 64.3%, or more than 1.7 million, travelled under the Individual Visit Scheme. This total was also 26% larger than April last year.

Short-haul arrivals recorded a 3.7% year-on-year decrease. Visitors from the Philippines and Japan, however, grew17% and 10.1%.

Long-haul arrivals stood at 466,865, similar to the level in April last year. Those from the Americas rose 2%.
