Hong Kongers flew internationally five times in past two years

This is double the global average of 2.5 trips in the past 24 months.

Hong Kong travellers have taken an average of 5.02 international trips over the last two years which is more than double the global average of 2.5 trips, according to Visa’s Global Travel Intentions Study 2017.

This makes Hong Kong the fifth market with the largest number of leisure and business international trips over the past two years. Singapore clinched the top spot in the APAC rankings with an average of 6.62 trips in the past 24 months followed by China at 5.81.

Thailand and Malaysia occupy the third and fourth place with 5.72 and 5.08 trips respectively.

As the owner of the world's 16th most powerful passport, Hong Kong passport-holders can enjoy visa-free access to a total of 169 countries, according to Henley & Partners Passport Index. 

Japan emerged as the top travel destination globally with nearly a fifth (19%) opting to go to the land of the rising sun followed by 18% embracing the US.

The land down under emerged as the third most preferred destination followed by Hong Kong and Thailand.
