Hong Kong gears up for an influx of 9.38m tourists for holidays

It's 10% higher than last year.

Acccording to the Immigrationi Department, an estimated 9.38 million travellers will pass through Hong Kong's control points during the upcoming Easter and Ching Ming Festival holidays.

Out of this total, which is 10% higher than last year, about 6.99 million are expected to use land boundary control points during the festive period, from March 28 to April 1 and April 3 to 7. The number of outbound travellers by land will peak on March 29 at about 449,000 departures, while inbound traffic will be at its heaviest on March 31 with about 442,000 arrivals.

Lo Wu Control Point will be busiest, with about 3.27 million travellers, or a daily average of 327,000. Traffic at Lok Ma Chau, Lok Ma Chau Spur Line and Shenzhen Bay control points will also be heavy, with daily average forecasts of 96,000, 149,000 and 100,000 passengers.

Cross-boundary travellers are advised to plan in advance, avoid making journeys during busy periods, and listen to radio and TV broadcasts on traffic conditions at control points.
