Welfare cases in Hong Kong dipped 0.3%

Caseload stood at 266,510.

According to a report, the Overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance caseload stood at 266,510 in May, with a total of 412,220 recipients, the Social Welfare Department announced today.

Compared to April, there was a reduction of 696 cases, or a drop of 0.3%.

Low earnings and unemployment cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.3% and 0.9% to 9,724 and 22,925 cases.

Single parent and old age cases both dropped by 0.2% to 30,400 and 152,734. Ill-health cases registered a decrease of 0.1% to 25,244.

Permanent disability cases rose 0.2% to 18,391.
