Hospital Authority begins recruitment for new chief executive
The initiative follows Dr Tony Ko's decision not to seek reappointment when his term ends in July.
The Hospital Authority (HA) Board has endorsed the commencement of recruitment for a new chief executive, following Dr Tony Ko's decision not to seek reappointment when his term concludes in July.
The board has appointed a ‘Selection Board’ to oversee the recruitment process, including the recommendation of the proposed remuneration for the successful candidate.
Furthermore, the HA will engage a search firm, with the recruitment expected to conclude within six months to ensure a smooth handover with Ko.
Ko, who has held the position since 2019, informed HA Chairman Henry Fan of his intention to step down to pursue new opportunities after over 30 years in public healthcare.
“Dr Ko's contribution is pivotal to the long-term development of the HA and the public healthcare system,” Fan said.
“We wish him the very best in his future endeavours as he continues to contribute to the medical profession,” he added.
