Hong Kong, Henan ink MoU on Chinese medicine cooperation

Key areas include CM services, standards, and talent development.

Hong Kong’s Health Bureau has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 22 September with Henan Province’s Health Commission to deepen cooperation in Chinese medicine (CM).

The two sides discussed cooperation in areas including services, standards, scientific research, and talent development. 

The move comes as the government expands its CM policies under its first Chinese Medicine Development Blueprint and its 2026–2030 Five-Year Plan.

Both sides discussed leveraging the Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong (CMHHK) and the Government Chinese Medicines Testing Institute (GCMTI).

The CMHHK is expected to support the development of CM and integrated Chinese-Western medicine services.

Meanwhile, the GCMTI is expected to serve as a platform for developing and promoting Chinese medicine standards internationally.

The two sides also discussed high-end talent cultivation as part of efforts to expand CM development in Hong Kong and Henan.

The MoU was signed by Acting Commissioner for Chinese Medicine Development Ng Chi-sun and Henan Health Commission Associate Director Ding Li.

Secretary for Health Professor Lo Chung-mau and Henan Vice Governor Song Zhenghui witnessed the signing.
