Gov't expands health voucher scope

More than 1.78 million eligible elders from Hong Kong may use EHCVs for the outpatient healthcare services fee.

The government has expanded the scope of the Elderly Health Care Voucher (EHCVs) Greater Bay Area (GBA) Pilot Scheme to Foshan with two service points.

From 17 July, the First People’s Hospital of Foshan and the Eighth Affiliated Hospital of Southern Medical University, both in Foshan, will be included in the scheme.

Additionally, both Zhongshan and Guangzhou will see one new service point.

From 9 July, Zhongshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Zhongshan and Guangdong Clifford Hospital in Guangzhou will be covered by the pilot scheme.

More than 1.78 million eligible elders from Hong Kong may use EHCVs to pay in RMB for the outpatient healthcare services fee at designated departments.

12 departments at Zhongshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 13 departments at Guangdong Clifford Hospital, 14 departments at the First People’s Hospital of Foshan, and 15 departments at the Eighth Affiliated Hospital of Southern Medical University were included.

Users should register with eHealth before using EHCVs at GBA service points.

Six other medical institutions are expected to join the EHCVs’ GBA Pilot Scheme in the second half of this year.
