Bupa completes acquisition of Quality HealthCare Medical Services
Becomes Hong Kong’s leading private healthcare provider.
UK healthcare group Bupa has acquired Quality HealthCare Medical Services, Hong Kong’s largest private clinic network, from Fortis Healthcare for US$355 million.
Bupa is now the leading healthcare funder and provider in depth and breadth of service in Hong Kong. It said the acquisition has given it a strong platform for future growth in the region.
Based in London, Bupa is an international healthcare group, serving 14 million customers in over 190 countries. It is a private healthcare company, an alternative to the UK's National Health Service, which is a tax-funded healthcare system.
It is also a major international provider of nursing and residential care for elderly people. With no shareholders, it invests its profits to provide more and better healthcare.
