Singaporean finance and tech professionals earn less than Hong Kong peers: Bloomberg

Investment banking analysts in Hong Kong earn 46% more than Singaporeans.

Finance and technology professionals in Singapore earn less than their peers in Hong Kong, data from Bloomberg Intelligence showed.

According to the report, investment banking analysts in Hong Kong earn US$92,149 a year, whilst those in Singapore earn US$63,305.

There’s also a gap between the salaries of associates in Hong Kong and Singapore.

Citing data from Michael Page, Bloomberg Intelligence reported that associates in Hong Kong 36% more than their peers in Singapore, taking home US$123,000 yearly.

Executive directors at investment banks meanwhile earn 13% more in Hong Kong.

In the wealth-management sector, Hong Kong professionals also earn more. For example, relationship managers in Hong Kong earn 13% more than those in Singapore.

Hong Kong also beats Singapore in terms of tech salaries.

Bloomberg Intelligence, however, underscored that Hong Kong’s higher salaries for tech professionals draw partly from a talent shortage.
