
Securities industry profits up 56% to $44.4b in 2024
Income from underwriting and placing of securities more than doubled.
Hong Kong’s securities industry recorded a 56% year-on-year (YoY) surge in total net profits to HK$44.4b, according to the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC).
Total income rose 11% YoY to $222.6b, outpacing the 4% rise in overheads.
The total value of transactions of all securities dealers and securities margin financiers in Hong Kong jumped 34% to $144.1t.
Growth is recorded in net securities commission income, up 18% to $20.2b; asset management income, up 14% to $37.5b; and income from underwriting and placing of securities, which more than doubled with a 118% growth to $11.1b.
