Octopus expands payment options for visitors to Mainland China

The new seamless payment solution is available starting this December.

Starting this December, Octopus customers travelling to Mainland China can scan to pay at merchants accepting Weixin Pay QR code payment, using Octopus wallet for seamless top-up in Hong Kong dollars.

Octopus will also waive foreign exchange transaction fees until 31 December to encourage the adoption of the new service.

For visitors to Hong Kong, Octopus also opened its network to allow QR payments from all the major digital wallets in China.

“This new Weixin Pay QR code solutions significantly increases payment acceptance points in Mainland China, further enriching the travel experience for Octopus customers as they explore more regions across the country,” Octopus said.
