Hang Seng Bank launches NFC-powered e-Passbook for seniors

Users can tap their phones to view balances and request records of up to 7 years.

Hang Seng Bank has launched an e-Passbook service that uses near field communication (NFC) technology to allow customers, particularly seniors, to access passbook information via mobile devices.

Users can tap their device to view account balances, check transaction history for the past two years, and request records covering up to seven years.

The service is available for customers who hold a valid personal HKD Passbook Savings Account and have not registered for Hang Seng Personal e-Banking.

To activate it, customers are required to make a one-time visit to a branch to link a designated NFC-enabled mobile phone to the e-Passbook system.

The bank said the service is available for application at all Hang Seng Bank branches.
