Government urged subsidy support
The enhanced scheme can benefit more people while ensuring the scheme's long-term sustainability and proper and fair use of public money.
According to Hong Kong Information Services Department, Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung has urged lawmakers to adopts a pragmatic attitude when considering the enhanced work incentive transport subsidy scheme proposed by the Government.
Noting there is no room for further adjustment, he said the Government came up with the finalised version after taking all factors into consideration.
Cheung added, an adjournment of the vote on the scheme at the Finance Committee meeting will cause a delay in its implementation, affecting 380,000 low-income people who might benefit from the scheme.
