Towngas Smart Energy lifts profit 2% in first half

The renewable energy segment saw a 5% rise in net profit to $172m.

Towngas Smart Energy reported a 2% increase in profit attributable to shareholders, reaching $758m for the first half of 2025.

The Group’s core operating profit also grew by 2% to $719m, driven by gains in its renewable energy segment and stable performance in city-gas operations.

The renewable energy segment saw a 5% rise in net profit to $172m.

Meanwhile, the city-gas business added 380,000 new customers and maintained steady gas sales volume despite a mild winter and challenging macro conditions.

The gas dollar margin improved slightly to RMB0.57 per cubic metre, supported by cost pass-through mechanisms and close coordination with upstream suppliers.
