Gov't postpones retail green bonds launch

The postponement aimed to decrease the risk of COVID-19 spread.

The Hong Kong Government announced it has decided to postpone the launch of the inaugural retail green bond offering, for which the subscription period was from 1 to 11 March originally.

The government explained that Hong Kong is at a critical juncture in fighting the COVID-19 epidemic, and the postponement will reduce the risk of spreading the disease by avoiding social contacts from the application process.

With the preparation work for the inaugural retail green bond launch completed, the government said it will relaunch the subscription arrangement as soon as possible, subject to the development of the epidemic situation.
